Tutoring through Globe

What is Tutoring Through Globe?

This tutoring program is a student-run network that connects students in need of academic help with peer-tutors who are well-versed in the subjects at hand. This program is offered to all St. Mary’s students, from our 5th graders to our graduating seniors. Dedicated to the success and satisfaction of the students and faculty at St. Mary’s, the tutoring program prides itself on its all-inclusive, supportive, and community-building environment.

In What Ways Do We Help the Community?

Throughout the past two school years, this club has paired innumerable students with peer-tutors. From prospective students, to their teachers, we have only heard the highest remarks about the availability, success, and environment of our club. While definitive statistics are not yet available on the success-rate or usage of its utilities, the St. M. Globe is currently working on assembling such data to provide even better tutoring for the students.

Introduce online & matching service

Founded in 2021 by seniors Megan Mayerle and Calvin Chmelir and under the mentorship of Mrs. Frau Pyle, the Tutoring Club began as a biweekly series of meetings where students could seek peer-lead help. Through the years, club meetings has been hosted within a classroom; however, it has since migrated to an online platform. This ultimate shift happened during the 2022-23 school year, under Dalia Ibarra and Nicola Chmelir, when biweekly meetings were not meeting prospective students’ needs. Since then, it has operated primarily through social platforms including email and direct messaging.

Currently, the tutoring program is serviced through the St. M. Globe website, which was created and now run by senior Mason Jun.
